North
Shore Orthotics-Prosthetics uses the most advanced techniques and
materials to make sturdy, lightweight and functional limbs and braces.
All Orthoses and Prostheses
are fitted and manufactured on-site, going through various phases, which
may include the following:
 |
1-EVALUATION-
Patient comes in with a prescription from his or her physician. NSOP
Practitioners review each person's prescription and evaluate the needs
of the patient, discussing all options. |
| |
|
| 2-SYSTEM DESIGN-
Formulated in accordance with the patient's goals and lifestyle. The
proper orthosis or prosthesis and its accompanying componentry and
materials are then selected and designed. |
 |
| |
|
 |
3-MEASURE
& CASTING- The patient is measured and a customized cast is made
in one of our fitting rooms and then turned over to the Lab for fabrication.
|
| |
|
| 4-DEVICE FABRICATION-
The Lab creates a mold from the cast which the Practitioner modifies
for an accurate fit and even finish. Through a vacuum process, a sturdy,
lightweight plastic is heated over the mold and formed into a custom
prosthesis/orthosis. |
 |
| |
|
 |
5-ASSEMBLY-
The new customized device is then assembled with the selected componentry,
joints, and/or covering materials |
| |
|
| 6-FINISHING-
Finishing touches are performed by sanding and smoothing out all surfaces
to make the finalized product. |
 |
| |
|
.
|
7-DELIVERY
& FITTING- The patient is then fitted and adjusted with his or
her orthosis/prosthesis, and assisted in its proper functioning and
usages. This process is carried out by the treating Practitioner.
|
| |
|
| 8-ADJUSTMENTS
& FOLLOW-UP- Follow-up visits are made with each patient to adjust
the fittings until the patient reaches his or her maximum potential
and comfort level. |
